About Parentech

Last updated 19 August 2026

Parentech builds small tools that help families deal with screens, and every one of them runs entirely on the device it is installed on.

Why they exist

Screen-time tools for families usually arrive as a suite: an account to create, a subscription to keep, and a copy of the family's browsing history sitting in someone else's database. The ones that work best are often the ones that ask for the most.

None of that is necessary. Blocking a page, timing a session and totalling minutes are all things a browser can do by itself. Sending that data to a server is a business decision, not a technical requirement.

How they are built

  • On your device. No accounts, no servers, no network requests.
  • Narrow. Each app does one thing rather than becoming a suite that does everything badly.
  • Honest about limits. An extension guards one browser on one machine. We would rather say that than imply otherwise.

Who makes them

An independent project. There is no advertising business and no data to sell behind it, which is what makes a local-only design affordable to keep building.
